Privacy Notice

Last updated: July 12, 2026

1. Information We Collect

Bread Head collects only the information necessary to operate the app and improve your experience. This includes:

  • Account information: name and email address when you create an account or sign up for early access.
  • Usage data: in-app activity such as lessons completed, journal entries, and budgeting inputs. Your account, lesson progress, journal entries, and budget data are stored securely in Google Firebase (Firestore), our cloud data provider. We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
  • Device information: operating system version and app version, used solely for debugging and compatibility.

We do not collect financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, or any payment information.

2. How We Use Your Information

Information we collect is used to:

  • Operate and improve the Bread Head app and website.
  • Send transactional emails such as early access confirmations.
  • Diagnose technical issues and ensure app stability.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

3. Data Retention

Account information is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your data, or a copy of the data we hold about you (a data export), at any time by emailing breadhead.org@gmail.com. We will process deletion and export requests within 30 days.

4. Cookies and Tracking

We use Google Firebase to securely store your data and analyze how you use Bread Head. This helps us improve the app and ensure it works smoothly. We do not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites.

If you're in a class, your teacher can see your lesson and challenge progress and whether you've completed journal entries, but never the contents of your journal.

5. Children's Privacy

Bread Head is designed for teenagers aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

6. Schools and Student Records (FERPA)

When a school or teacher uses Bread Head with their students, we act as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We use student information only to provide and support the service for that school; we never sell it, use it for advertising, or build advertising profiles. Student data stays under the school's control: schools may request access, correction, deletion, or export of their students' records at any time by emailing breadhead.org@gmail.com.

7. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
